Email marketing is a lifeline that you can use to skyrocket your Internet business profits. Executed correctly, you can double or triple your income potential. Mistakes will cost you money. If you're ready to take your Internet business to the next level, you can increase your conversion rates by following a few simple tricks.
Write a killer subject line. The key to successful email marketing is to grab their attention, make them curious, and to get them to click on the link in your message. Make readers curious by asking a question or using a scarcity tactic. Chances are that the people on your list have subscribed to several others, so you're in direct competition with other marketers. There must be a reader benefit in the subject line to get the results you want. Write an "Open me now!" subject line, and you'll increase your conversion rate.
Don't capitalize main words in the subject line. If your subject line looks like it came from an English teacher, your email is less likely to be opened. Write as if you're sending an email to
a friend: "I've got some great news for you!" not "I've Got Some Great News for You!" See the difference? One sounds like a personal message, and the other screams "sales." This technique has been shown to increase conversion rates. It should sound personable and pleasing to the receiver.
Use their first names. Your email must sound as if you're writing to an individual, not a group of people. Use the name-fix feature to personalize each email that you send to your list.
The content should be valuable. There's nothing more frustrating than to see a subject line that sparks curiosity, only to open an email that has nothing to do with the original message. Your goal in the message is to offer the prospect something valuable and to lead them to the next step in the sales process. Begin with a story or a statement that your readers can relate to, and you're more likely to hold their interest.
Avoid USP Shut-down. Email marketing is not the same as sending a friendly email to your friends. You'll need to use a reputable service like GetResponse or Aweber to avoid the spam slap. If you get just one spam complaint, you may get your ISP shut down. Use services that break through spam filters, get delivered, and get results.
Build curiosity with a squeeze page. When customers click on the link in your email, take them to a squeeze page instead of a sales page. This will make them even more curious, build anticipation, and increase the likelihood of making the sale.
Build relationships with your target market. Stay in touch with your list and offer them free information. Let them get to know you "the real you" by injecting your personality into your writing. If you hire a copywriter to do the writing for you, give them some insight into how they should frame your emails and the tone you'd like to set.
Building a successful Internet business with email marketing is easier than you think. If you approach your list as though they're individuals, write curious subject lines, and offer them something valuable, you'll increase your conversion rates and build a list of customers for life.
